Continue to read below to find out how to identify arthritis and how you can manage arthritis pain.

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a disorder classified by joint inflammation. A joint is defined as the connection between two bones that allows the body’s parts to move. Joints are made up of fibrous connective tissues and cartilage. Arthritis can affect one or more joints, appearing suddenly or gradually over time. Symptoms of arthritis may be mild, moderate, or severe. Doctors classify arthritis as either degenerative, inflammatory, infectious or metabolic. The following are the two most common types of arthritis:

Osteoarthritis (OA) – Osteoarthritis affects millions of people worldwide and occurs when the bones cartilage wears down over time. This disorder cannot be reversed but can be managed. Osteoarthritis affects joints in your hands, knees, hips, and spine.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) – A form of degenerative arthritis and an autoimmune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the lining of the joints. This lining is the synovial membrane and keeps the joints from rubbing up against one another. Rheumatoid arthritis can eventually destroy the cartilage and bone within the joint.

What are Arthritis Symptoms and Causes?

Arthritis has a range of symptoms that affect men and women of all ages. The most common symptoms are joint pain, stiffness, and swelling. You may also experience a decrease in your range of motion due to inflamed and swollen joints.

Scientific research shows that three main factors may play a role in causing certain types of arthritis.

1.) Genetic factors - Arthritis may run in the family meaning you may be more likely to develop the disorder.

2.) Health - Smoking cigarettes, gaining excessive weight and having a poor diet may lead to joint damage and infection.

3.) Lifestyle - Constant strain puts wear and tear on joints leaving you more susceptible to arthritis.

What Can I Do to Manage Arthritis Pain Relief?

Medications

NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are common over the counter medications that reduce pain and inflammation. Cortisone shots (injection of a local anesthetic) are another option that decreases and suppress joint inflammation.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy can help improve your range of motion and strengthen muscles in the surrounding areas.

Surgery

If your arthritis reaches a point of extreme pain, surgery might be the best option. Surgery can help repair, replace or fuse damaged joints.

CBD

CBD, or Hemp Extract, is a natural cannabinoid that works with your body’s endocannabinoids to alleviate pain and inflammation signals. Hemp Extract is a therapeutic compound that contains anti-inflammatory properties that may help improve joint health and mobility while delivering arthritis pain relief.

  1. I found it interesting how you mentioned how CBD oil can help relieve your arthritis symptoms because it suppresses the signals of inflammation and pain that comes with your arthritis. My wife and I are getting older and we have noticed that our hands and fingers flare up because of our rheumatoid arthritis whenever we play with our grandchildren for more than twenty minutes. Because I want us to spend more time with them, I will keep this in mind as we search for a rheumatologist near us that can tell us more about CBD oil!
