What You Should Consider Before Taking CBD Oil for Stress Relief

Before you decide to take CBD Oil for stress relief, there are a few things you should consider. How Much CBD Oil Should I Take for Stress Relief?

Since CBD products are not yet approved by the FDA, Nature’s Script can’t offer explicit guidance on how much CBD Oil you should take. We can, however, give you a few tips along with published research on CBD Oil.

Tips for Finding the Perfect CBD Serving Size

We suggest that you start with a low serving of CBD Oil and gradually work your way up until you obtain your desired relief or are comfortable with CBD’s effects. We also recommend talking to your doctor before trying CBD Oil so that you can discuss appropriate dosages and any potential side effects of combining CBD with your current medications.  Below are published studies that show data on precise CBD doses and how they were effective in relieving anxiety.

Studies About CBD Oil for Anxiety

Research has shown that specific serving sizes of CBD Oil will result in different effects. The 2017 review, “An Update on Safety and Side Effects of Cannabidiol: A Review of Clinical Data and Relevant Animal Studies,” explains that CBD is a relatively safe treatment for reducing anxiety. The analysis revealed that there isn’t one universal CBD serving size for everyone. Instead, it highlighted the fact that individual people – and animals – respond differently to varying doses of CBD. Most of the human studies used dosages ranging from 20 to 1,500 milligrams (mg) per day.

The 2012 experimental study, “Cannabidiol in Humans – A Quest for Therapeutic Targets,” proved that a fixed dose of CBD (400 mg) taken orally decreased subjective anxiety and increased mental sedation among 10 healthy subjects, relative to placebo.

Furthermore, in the Clinical Trials in Patient Populations mentioned in “Cannabidiol in Humans – A Quest for Therapeutic Targets,” a crossover study demonstrated that CBD (400 mg) decreased subjective anxiety among 10 patients with social anxiety disorder, relative to placebo. The study also demonstrated significant changes in blood flow to the brain’s cerebral cortex. Similarly, a placebo-controlled, parallel-group study among 24 treatment-naive social anxiety disorder patients showed that CBD (600 mg) significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in speech performance in response to a simulated public speaking test.

In the study’s conclusion, preliminary clinical trials suggest that an oral dose of CBD (150–600 mg/d) may have a therapeutic effect on social anxiety disorder by relaxing brain activity.

Why Should I Try CBD Oil for Stress Relief?

As mentioned above in the peer-reviewed studies, the evidence for CBD as an effective anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing agent) is showing promise in both animal and human studies. Anxiety can be understood as your body’s reaction to stressful or unfamiliar situations to keep you safe, alert and aware. But elevated stress is much more than feeling nervous before a job interview or speech. Constant anxiety and anxiety-related disorders can negatively impact your social life, productivity and overall health.

CBD carries calming properties that may help ease anxiety and stress. The natural compound isn’t psychoactive and will not get you “high.” In Healthline’s article, “Using CBD for Anxiety: Does it Work?” it is said that taking CBD may positively impact nerve receptors located throughout the nervous system and brain’s limbic system – the part of the brain responsible for regulating emotions, memories, motivation, hormones and circadian rhythm. Researchers believe CBD may benefit the brain’s production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood and social behavior. In many cases, those with anxiety disorders had lower serotonin levels.

At the very least, CBD Oil is showing promise as a natural alternative to help relieve anxiety with limited significant side effects.
