Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil

Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil – What's the Difference?

Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil banner

Nowadays, there’s no shortage of plant-based wellness products on the market – and CBD and Hemp Oil are two of the most prominent compounds you’ll recognize in standalone or infused products. While you may have heard of both, do you know what separates Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil? Allow Nature’s Script to educate you on the key differences between these two compounds and how they are utilized in our premium Hemp Extract products.

Overview – Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil

Hemp Oil

The term “Hemp Oil” is confusing because it can be used to categorize any oil derived from the Hemp plant. Hemp Oil may refer to the oil extracted from the entire plant: its seeds, leaves or stalk. Generally, Hemp Oil is made from hemp seeds and is known as Hemp seed oil.

Hemp seed oil is considered a carrier oil and contains unique properties. However, it does not contain any active CBD. You can find Hemp seed oil at most nutritional stores for purchase.

CBD Oil

Cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD, is a prevalent cannabinoid compound derived from the Hemp plant. CBD Oil comes from the leaves, flowers and stalks of the Hemp plant. Since CBD Oil can be obtained from various parts of the Hemp plant, it’s also recognized as Hemp Extract.

At Nature’s Script, we use CBD and Hemp Extract interchangeably when referring to our products.

For CBD to be considered legal in the United States, it must be extracted from the Industrial Hemp plant and contain less than 0.3% THC – the federal legal limit. Due to such low amounts of THC, CBD Oil is non-psychoactive and won’t cause a “high.”  You can find CBD Oil products online, at vape stores, gas stations or CBD-specific shops.

How Are They Extracted?

Hemp Oil

Hemp seed oil is extracted solely from the seeds of the hemp plant. The Hemp seeds must be cold-pressed and processed to yield oil. The resulting Hemp seed oil can then be added to a variety of commercial products, including food, cosmetics, lotions and more.

CBD Oil

There are a few different extraction methods to obtain CBD. CBD can be derived via Supercritical CO2, hydrocarbon solvent, steam distillation or natural solvent extraction. Each method has its pros and cons and varies in safety and effectiveness. CBD Oil can be infused into a variety of products, including edibles, topicals, pet products and more.

What Are Their Benefits?

Hemp Oil

The seeds from Hemp contain vital nutrients beneficial to the human body. Hemp seeds are rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids your body does not produce. You’ll find the same fatty acids – Omega-3 and Omega-6 – in Hemp seed oil as you would in fish, nuts and plants. These fatty acids are crucial to your overall wellness. They may benefit your metabolism, skin, cardiovascular health and prevent oxidative damage from free radicals.

CBD Oil

While the chemical composition of CBD is not fully understood, many believe CBD Oil carries an array of beneficial properties. CBD’s properties show promise thanks to the biological system in your body known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The ECS is a neurological system comprised of cannabinoid receptors that regulate functions such as immune response, appetite, pain, inflammation, mood, sleep cycle and more.

Your body naturally produces cannabinoids, but CBD may encourage your body to produce more cannabinoids to ensure the proper functioning of the ECS. Evidence even points to CBD carrying anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. While this information is preliminary and not concrete yet, CBD Oil seems to have plenty of benefits while having little to no adverse side effects.

Summary – Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil

Hemp Oil vs. CBD Oil

When shopping for Hemp Oil and CBD Oil-related products for your health, it’s essential to understand their differences. If you see a product labeled as Hemp Oil, it does not necessarily mean it contains hemp-derived CBD. If you are unsure, always check the back of the product for its supplement facts.

At Nature’s Script, you’ll find both Hemp Extract (Cannabidiol) and Hemp Oil in our premium CBD Oil. We use Hemp seed oil because it acts as a carrier oil and allows your body to receive the maximum potential of CBD. We obtain both our CBD and Hemp seed oil from Industrial Hemp grown on American farms.

Rob Gronkowski on CBD’s Potential

Rob Gronkowski on CBD's Potential

Rob Gronkowski CBD

Most people won’t experience the physical and mental pain that former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski endured throughout his nine-year NFL career. But many are getting acquainted with the natural compound he says is essential to his recovery: CBD.

The three-time Super Bowl champion has suffered multiple herniated discs, a handful of concussions, two forearm fractures, a torn MCL/ACL and several other injuries that finally culminated into his retirement on March 24, 2019.

Gronk’s decision to retire at 29 years old came as a shock to most, who believed he would rehab and return to the field as he had done previously.

Last Tuesday at a press conference in New York City, a sincere and heartfelt Gronkowski fought back tears when talking about what he was going through.

"I was not in a good place. Football was bringing me down, and I didn't like it. I was losing that joy in life... I could play right now if I wanted to play. I’m feeling good. Physically, I could do it. Mentally wise, desire-wise, it's not there..." – ESPN.com (August 27, 2019)

Gronk vocalized his truths about life after football while also shedding light on CBD, a product that he said was essential to his recovery. CBD, a natural and nonintoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis and hemp, has helped Gronk regain his physical health, he said.

"For the first time in more than a decade, I am pain-free," Gronkowski stated in front of reporters.

Although Gronkowski’s benefits from CBD are subjective, his story gives hope to other players looking for an alternative to prescription pain killers and opioids, which are traditionally handed out like candy by NFL medical staffs.

Given Gronk’s loveable personality and platform, he is the perfect advocate to battle the NFL’s policy regarding the use of CBD products without penalty. The NFL currently views CBD as it views marijuana – a positive test for marijuana will result in a fine or suspension.

While more concrete evidence is needed to persuade the NFL and FDA, millions are already finding comfort and relief thanks to CBD and Hemp Extract products. Topical rubs infused with CBD and menthol are encouraging recovery and alleviating aches and pains. Other products such as CBD Oil and CBD Edibles are show promise in relieving mental stress and promoting positive wellbeing.

CBD, or Hemp Extract, has gained popularity over the past few years due to the acclaimed benefits from its users. More and more people are branching out to try CBD-infused products because of its therapeutic potential and limited risk of adverse side effects. CBD products can be bought and sold throughout the U.S. as long as they are derived from Industrial Hemp and contain less than 0.3% THC. Before any claims can be made about the benefits of CBD, additional research and evidence is needed. Until then, it’s up to the prospective CBD consumer to do their research and find out what is reliable and works for them.

In other major sports, CBD has emerged on the PGA Tour as golfers Bubba Watson, Lucas Glover and Charlie Hoffman have CBD sponsorships. All of them have praised CBD, claiming they receive better sleep and recovery. The PGA is allowing players to use and partner with CBD brands but warn about using supplements that are not FDA-approved. The NHL is another league making strides to allow CBD as an alternative to traditional pain killers. Cannabis products are presently legal in 28 of the 31 NHL cities and players will not be punished for using CBD. The NFL, NBA and MLB have yet to change their stance against CBD, let alone understand its use.

If battered NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski is finding relief through CBD products, the future looks promising for the natural compound and its potential to benefit others on and off the field.

CBD Lab Testing

CBD Lab Testing

CBD Lab Testing

CBD products are still largely unregulated, leaving many consumers skeptical about the potency and quality of their products. At Nature’s Script, we make sure our products go through rigorous CBD lab testing to guarantee the product you are using has the correct potency labeled and does not contain harmful chemicals or toxins. Here’s why our lab testing methods are superior to any other CBD company:

Quality

The quality of a CBD product starts with the souring of premium raw materials. Nature’s Script sources our Hemp Extract from reliable American farms that come with a certified certificate of analysis. The certificate of analysis provides information regarding the quality of our CBD, as well as the levels of pesticides, heavy metals and other residuals. This process ensures that our raw CBD meets our standards and is safe for human consumption.

Consistency

After we receive our raw CBD certificate of analysis and it meets our quality standards, we can manufacture our products. Throughout our production process, we conduct internal reviews for consistent quality control. Our products are manufactured in-house, which gives us the ability to review and test all final batches. Once they are approved, we send our final products to a third-party lab to verify their consistency. We publish our third-party test results online and make them available to you for transparency.

Repeat

We implement strict guidelines in the sourcing, production and manufacturing of all our CBD products so that they are the same every time. Our multi-stage lab testing validates the contents of our CBD and assures you that you are receiving a premium, potent product. Our thorough process allows us to maintain the quality of our CBD from the time it is extracted, stored and reaches your front door – every time.

All in all, we try to stay as transparent as possible to benefit your overall health and wellness. We will be adding QR codes to each of our products in the future. QR codes are scannable images that will take you to exact batch and date in which your product was produced. You can scan these codes from either your iPhone or phone application. QR codes also provide you with the quality and potency of CBD and other ingredients in your CBD product. Always check back for new information regarding our sourcing methods, extraction process, lab testing and new product launches.

Setting the Industry Standard

How Nature's Script is Setting the CBD Industry Standard

Setting the CBD Industry Standard

Within the past few years, the CBD market has flourished for growth and opportunity. Some have referred to CBD as a “miracle compound” due to its potential medicinal benefits that include calm and relaxation, better sleep, lowered stress, improved workout recovery and more. The knowledge of CBD’s therapeutic potential has created a vast demand for the natural, non-psychotropic compound. With little to no FDA regulation, though, the CBD market has seen an influx of CBD companies only looking to cash-in rather than uphold specific standards. When it comes to a product that can assist your health, you want to know how the product is made and the precise ingredients within it. Nature’s Script has been at the forefront of the CBD industry, providing Hemp education and transparency while also producing premium CBD products. Read below to learn why our 5-step process sets us apart from every other CBD company and how we have been setting the CBD industry standard.

Setting the CBD Industry Standard

Setting the CBD Industry Standard

Superior CBD

From the very beginning, Nature’s Script has partnered with experienced American Hemp farmers. We source our premium Industrial Hemp from California, Colorado and Kentucky farms that only use sustainable practices. They use eco-friendly methods that maintain healthy soil. This means that our Industrial Hemp grows in soil free of pesticides, heavy metals or any other harmful chemicals. The Industrial Hemp plants we source all contain a certificate of analysis to ensure they meet our quality standards.

Look out for companies who source their Hemp from outside the United States. While importing Industrial Hemp from overseas is an alternative option, it is much harder to uphold the quality and reliability of the plant.

In-House Manufacturing

At Nature’s Script, we manufacture all products in-house in our 100,000-square-foot manufacturing space. Our team of compliance and manufacturing experts follows strict quality control measures throughout the entire production process. Our quality control measures include the testing, weighing, calculating, and review of our raw materials (Hemp Extract) and final products. We have multiple checkpoints set up throughout our in-house manufacturing process to maintain total quality control. A Near-Infrared Spectrophotometer (NIR) positively identifies each material. We guide the production of each product via an official Batch Production Record (BPR) of a previously approved Master Manufacturing Record (MMR). These records outline product formula, as well as the total amounts of each material to be weighed. Refraining from outsourcing our manufacturing processes limits our risk of shipping delays and product errors.

Consistency in Lab Testing

While we have multiple quality control checkpoints, Nature’s Script still conducts multi-stage lab tests. As mentioned above, all of our raw materials include a NIR scale to identify their quality and potency. After product production, we conduct in house lab tests as well as third-party lab tests that you can find published online. Our lab tests give you concreate data regarding the validity and superiority of our CBD products. All products are accurately labeled containing their desired ingredients and milligram concentration. Whether it’s our CBD Oil or CBD Gummies, you can check online or on the packaging for the correct labeling.

Shipping & Customer Service

We do our best to try and provide the utmost transparency as a premium brand. Nature’s Script Blog is dedicated to an assortment of articles regarding product education (“How Do I Take CBD?”), CBD legality (“Is CBD Oil Legal?”) and up-to-date information on the industry. Our customer service team is one of the most knowledgeable in the industry and always available. Don’t hesitate to call our friendly staff, as they genuinely look forward to informing you about the benefits of CBD. We also offer multiple shipping methods.

At Nature's Script, we're setting the CBD industry standard and we intend to continue paving the way for the industry in the future. We take pride in being able to provide you with the therapeutic potential of the Hemp plant through our premium CBD products.  CBD contains many beneficial properties that may provide greater overall health and wellness. We understand that Hemp Extract products will affect everyone differently, but we hope you give us a try and join us on a journey to total relaxation and comfort.

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency

While the human body has been studied for over hundreds of years, it wasn’t until the discovery of Endocannabinoid System (1992) changed the way we look at how our bodies perform some of their primary functions. Early research of the Endocannabinoid System shed light on the significant roles cannabinoids play in our bodies. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors, or the Endocannabinoid System and alter signals the brain receives. It is understood that the Endocannabinoid System is responsible for regulating our appetite, metabolism, pain, immune response and more, so what would happen if our bodies did not produce enough cannabinoids? The theory of Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency suggests that we may be more susceptible to prolonged inflammation, mood swings, and diseases.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System’s name originates from its etymology. “Endo” comes from the word “endogenous,” which means growing from within and “cannabinoid” comes from “Cannabis.” The ECS, or Endocannabinoid System, is a collection of several mechanisms (primarily endogenous cannabinoids) that together create a neuromodulatory system.

The components the ECS comprise of are:

  • Endocannabinoids the body naturally produces (2-AG and Anandamide)
  • Cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2
  • Enzymes that create and destroy the cannabinoids

Neuromodulatory system is an intricate way of saying the ECS functions as a group of neurons that use chemicals to transmit information throughout the body. Ultimately, your body produces endocannabinoids that activate your CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors work in unison with our central nervous system. CB2 receptors work with our immune cells. These receptors are in the brain, organs, connective tissues and glands. Enzymes create and breakdown endocannabinoids upon the nervous system’s demand.

Homeostasis

Together, the ECS’s parts work in harmony to help maintain the body’s homeostasis. In order to sustain your body’s balance, the ECS regulates mood, pain, inflammation, sleep, immune function, body temperature and more. If your body does not produce enough endocannabinoids to any one of these areas, you may experience higher levels of inflammation and stress, sleep disruption, poor immune health and more.

What is Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency?

Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency is the theory that disorders develop due to the malfunction of the Endocannabinoid System. When your ECS does not produce enough endocannabinoids, it may cause an imbalance in your body, leading to mental disruptions and diseases. Common diseases linked to Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency are known as psychosomatic. Psychosomatic disorders occur when psychological factors cause physical symptoms. After understanding how the ECS functions, research infers that the ECS does have a direct relationship to potential psychosomatic diseases such as migraines, fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome. The ECS is essentially a bridge between body (organs) and mind (nervous system). When this bridge fails, it can lead to certain psychosomatic disorders. So far, research is in support of cannabinoid treatment helping to combat Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency and other treatment-resistant syndromes.

How Can I Prevent Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency?

While more research is needed to prove Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency, there is still credible evidence that points to the importance of the ECS. The most abundant neurotransmitters in the brain are cannabinoid receptors. These cannabinoid receptors can become active and more prominent when you introduce your body to phytocannabinoids – or plant-based cannabinoids - like Cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is a natural compound found within Hemp and can directly aid in the proper functioning of your ECS.

Introducing CBD or Hemp Extract products to your daily regimen may help influence the production of the body’s endocannabinoids. CBD products have become a hot commodity due to its therapeutic potentials. Testimonials from consumers report that CBD is helping to relieve their anxiety and stress, help with sleep deprivation, promote calm and relaxation and more. Nature’s Script offers a wide variety of premium Industrial Hemp-derived CBD products. From CBD Oil to CBD Pain Gel, we have all of your CBD needs.

Always check back for new updates and research concerning Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency and the ECS. You can visit Nature’s Script CBD blog for more information about CBD, its legality, safety and benefits.

Hemp History Week

Hemp History Week

Hemp History Week Banner

If it weren’t for the Hemp plant, Nature’s Script wouldn’t be able to provide the powerful potential of premium Hemp Extract products to you. This week, June 3-9, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hemp History Week. The theme for this year’s week is Return of the Plant. Return of the Plant is a fitting theme for 2019 because it wasn’t until recently that the Hemp plant regained its legal status. Before the Farm Bill passed in 2018, the cultivation of the Hemp plant was considered illegal under the 1970 Controlled Substance Act. The goal for this year’s Hemp History Week is to raise awareness about the benefits, versatility and importance of the Hemp plant.

Hemp History Lesson

Since the dawn of time, the Hemp plant has had its roots planted in human civilization. Records indicate that traces of Hemp date back as early as 8,000 BCE to Chinese and Taiwanese society. Soon Hemp would spread across the globe reaching civilizations in Asia, Europe, Africa and eventually South and North America. The versatility of Hemp made it a commodity and earned its nickname as “Sacred Grass” and “King of the Seeds.” Hemp would be used to create fuel, clothing, rope, paper and so much more.

As for American civilization, Hemp was utilized immediately by American farmers in the 1700s. Hemp paper was even used to draft the Declaration Independence. In 1942, the USDA initiated the “Hemp for Victory” program to encourage farmers to grow Hemp and support the war effort during WWII. The program led to over 150,000 acres of Hemp production, a premier resource during the war.

Cultivation of Hemp in America would end, however, in 1970 when U.S President Regan signed the Controlled Substances Act. The Controlled Substances Act classified Hemp as an illegal Schedule I drug, grouping it with Marijuana. The CSA would outlaw the farming of Hemp with a zero-tolerance policy.

Fast forward to 2014; President Obama signs the Farm Bill allowing the reinstitution of pilot Industrial Hemp (Hemp with less than 0.3% THC) programs for research purposes. In 2018, Congress passes the Farm Bill legalizing the production of Industrial Hemp. The Farm Bill ushers in a new era for the Hemp plant, which paves the way for Hemp Extract and Cannabidiol products.

Hemp Vs. Marijuana

The 1970 Controlled Substances Act wrongfully classified Hemp because of misconception and lack of education. Hemp was grouped with Marijuana as a Schedule I drug even though the two are fundamentally different plants. Hemp is often associated with Marijuana due to the cannabinoid THC. THC is the chemical compound prominently known for producing a “high” or altered state of mind. Hemp plants contain less than 0.3% of THC, which is not enough to cause any psychoactive effects. Instead, Hemp contains high levels of the non-psychoactive compound CBD (Cannabidiol). CBD, or Hemp Extract, is a medicinal compound that has the potential to improve focus, promote better sleep, create an enhanced sense of calm and relaxation and more. Hemp is also a much more versatile Cannabis plant than Marijuana. Check out more of the differences between the two plants on our graphic.

Hemp vs. Marijuana

Benefits of Hemp

Hemp History Week is a time for us to inform others about the endless potentials of the Hemp plant. As we celebrate the Return of the Plant, take time to understand Hemp’s impact and the support it can offer. Here are three of the main benefits that the Hemp plant can provide for our society:

Agricultural Assitance

While tech is helping keep the farm industry afloat, the Hemp plant may be the crop to revitalize it. Many consumers are looking for products that contain Hemp Extract, making the demand for Hemp-derived CBD at an all-time high. The market for Hemp equates to new jobs and opportunities for farmers. Hemp is one of the fastest growing plants and can thrive in almost any climate or soil. It matures in as few as 100 days whereas most trees take 50-100 years. Hemp can also mitigate erosion and protect neighboring plants from heavy metals, toxins and pesticides.

Environmental Sustainability

Products made from Hemp are 100% biodegradable and can be reused or recycled. Research has also shown that Hemp can help reduce global warming due to the massive amounts of carbon dioxide it absorbs. Industrial Hemp has extensive roots that penetrate deep into the soil, securing water and nutrients vital to plant development. Hemp’s large roots recover nutrients that may otherwise be lost and readies the soil for future crops. Most Hemp products are non-toxic, renewable and stronger than conventional plastics.

CBD Capsules Effects

Are you looking for a boost to your overall wellness? CBD Capsules effects may potentially provide you greater focus, total relaxation, stress relief and more. These easily digestible capsules work with your body's systems to provide you with an array of potential health benefits. Continue to read below to out how CBD Capsules effects work and the potential benefits they can offer.

How do Hemp Extract Capsules Work?

Every human has a biological system within their body known as the Endocannabinoid System or ECS. The ECS is made up of endocannabinoid receptors. These receptors (CB1 and CB2) regulate vital life functions of your body. Your ECS is responsible for maintaining your pain sensation when you get hurt, your stress levels when you feel nervous, your sleep-wake cycle and so much more. The ECS's receptors activate when exposed to phytocannabinoids (compounds found in plants), such as CBD. Taking CBD Capsules may influence the production of endocannabinoids in your body.

When your body's ECS is operating at full function, you are more likely to have a better mood, feel more relaxed and have more energy. If your body is deficient of endocannabinoids, it leaves you more susceptible to injuries, disease and a poor mental state. Influencing your body's endocannabinoid production through Hemp Extract Capsules is a way to help boost and protect essential life processes. Adding CBD Capsules to your daily regimen may benefit your sleep cycle, stress levels and overall sense of well-being.
